Just in Time
Target audience: Managers at all levels, supply chain managers, business improvement specialists.
This course is available in a distance learning format
Course description: Just in Time is one of the powerful outcomes of Lean Manufacturing and provides a philosophy that where properly applied is gradually revolutionising industry. The concept - making nothing until needed and then producing to the highest level of quality – sounds simple, but it can cut a company costs by up to 60% of sales revenue.
The presenter draws on his experience of those organisations already working Just in Time, particularly in Japan. JITs can only be achieved by company wide dedication to improve the predictability of processes and to achieve dramatic cycle time reduction. The course includes a demonstration of the performance differences between, batch, single part, and kanban systems utilising the 'pull' principle, impact of bottlenecks and constraints (theory of constraints), use of Jidoka and ANDON systems.
Course objectives:
- To enable participants to evaluate their own organisations and their supply chain.
- To be able to conduct Process analysis as a prelude for Value Stream Mapping.
- To see opportunities for the application of continual improvment techniques.
- To understand the Kanban and other 'single piece' production methods
