Toyota to recall over a million cars in US and Japan - (BBC news web site)

2005 Toyota Avalon The latest recall affects Toyota Avalon cars built between 2005-06, among others

Toyota has announced a recall of more than 1.5 million cars
worldwide over ......

The announcement follows more than 10 million car recalls by Toyota already in the past year, including 1.1 million Corolla and Matrix cars in the US and Canada recalled in August because of potentially faulty engine control systems.

Toyota has now issued 14 recalls in 2010.

We say:
Undoubtedly, but how about their competitors? How many recalls have they had? This sort of statistic is sensationalist and very unfair. Check the various web sites on Product recalls at any time and you will find that all of the Auto manufacturers are having recalls all of the time. It is not just the quantity it is also the severity of the risk. Are Toyota any better or worse than their competitors? who knows until we have relative statistics. Without them, Toyota becomes a whipping post.

That is just not fair when you consider that if it were not for Toyota and one or two others, most of we motorists would be spending half our lives with our heads under the bonnets of our cars. If you annually make millions of anything, there are bound to be some that do not make the grade, it is what you do about it that matters!

They could of course send their people on some of our Chartered Quality Institute registered courses!
