Report on the 10th anniversary biannual Quality Circles Convention at the City Montessori School in India November 2007.

If this event was exceptional in the past, it was stunning this year. More than 3000 students and teachers took part from across India and from 14 countries.
For the first time there was a serious representation from the UK with a team of participants from Kingston University and Richmond College.
There were more than 200 children each from both Sri Lanka and Nepal and for the first time a team of physically challenged students including both deaf and Blind from Mauritius.

A more full report will be posted here shortly together with photographs

CMS and CEWC

There is a case for developing links between CMS and the Council for Education in World Citizenship, which in past decades organised annual Christmas Holiday lectures in Westminster Central Hall, involving 3000 students, questioning leading politicians, and engaging in discussion and creative activities.

CMS could be encouraged to become an associate institutional member of CEWC, and could establish CMS Hampton, hosted initially in the CEWC office at Hampton Community College.

Through the link, UNESCO ASPnet schools in the UK, co-ordinated by CEWC, could be put in touch with WCTQEE schools co-ordinated by CMS. The UK should be represented by teachers and students at future international conventions, such as in Sri Lanka in 2006.

Footnote by David Hutchins: Quality Circles were originally named QC Circles by JUSE in Japan, meaning 'Quality Control Circles'. In the West, the word 'Control' was dropped as it is not a popular word.
Today, in Japan, they are referred to as e-QC Circles, which means 'evolutionary Quality Control Circles'.
